Our Purpose
God has chosen and appointed each of us for a specific purpose. As John 15:16 reminds us, "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last." It's no coincidence that you possess the abilities you have or that you're placed where you are right now. God has perfectly positioned you to fulfill His mission.
Living Out Our Mission
Our mission extends beyond just preaching the gospel. It involves meeting the needs of those around us, as Jesus taught in Matthew 25:35-36, "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me." This is how we tangibly demonstrate God's love to the world.
Empowered by the Holy Spirit
As we step out in faith, we don't go alone. The Holy Spirit empowers us, providing the words we need in crucial moments. Luke 12:11-12 assures us, "When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say"
Renewed Purpose
Remember, you are totally and undeniably loved by God. This love should fuel our mission and renew our flame. The best is yet to come, and we are part of God's ongoing story. The book of Acts is still being written today, through ordinary people like you and me.
Living with Purpose
When we transition from passive faith to purposeful living, we step into God's greater plan. The Christian life isn't a playground; it's a battleground. But it's in this battle that we find true purpose and fulfillment.
Let us pray: Jesus, thank you for your sacrifice that lacked nothing. You defeated death for me. I ask that you be my Savior and, because of your resurrection, I want you to be my Lord. I want to follow you and fulfill the mission you've given me. Use me where you have me, and let my life bring praise to your name. Amen.
Being a Light in the Darkness
We are called to be a light in dark places. Like Josiah Queen's Garden In Manhattan says, our lives should reflect Christ's love and hope to those around us. Our mission field is wherever God has placed us. As the song suggests, "If I'm the closest thing to a Bible that they read, let the words they read be what you wrote."
